About

The purpose of the educational project center is to contribute—in close collaboration with the regional program—to the dynamics that the Frac carries outside its walls, supporting the circulation of works and initiating a sensitive approach to contemporary art.

Our field of action extends to many organizations, schools, extracurricular centers, childcare centers and associations, and today we support some thirty partners in the territory. The policy of jointly building projects, along with their networking and promotion, enables more than 18,000 young people, from toddlers to adolescents, to take part in the Frac’s actions in the region.

Linked to artistic and cultural education programs, the goal of our projects is to make as many people as possible aware of what constitutes art today, while adapting to the individual organizations’ ways of working, constraints, and specificities. Artwork loans, exhibition visits, and group curating projects always favor a direct and inquisitive relationship with the works in order to inspire reflection and new perspectives. Meeting and interacting with artists in the context of interventions and participatory workshops provide opportunities for personal experimentation with new questions through artistic practice.

The aim is to place the public in an active position: observing a work, exhibiting it, doing its mediation, discovering the techniques used by artists, engaging in plastic experimentation, meeting an artist or a culture professional, or putting oneself in the shoes of an exhibition curator, art critic or scenographer. These are offered as ways of developing knowledge, as well as encouraging mutual attention and collaboration, by creating moments of expression and situations of exchange. The projects we lead aim to interlink different groups and school classes, but also to connect schools with neighboring organizations in order to establish a network around cultural and social questions.

The educational projects center is also keen to create new forms of transmission, to make adapted, playful resources available to decompartmentalize fields of action. The circulation of travelling tools testifies to that desire. Developed in connection with works in the collection, they are designed for learning through practice, offering the chance to immerse oneself and produce something in connection with an artistic approach, to create what could be called “how-to” works, to set up exhibitions and create true scenographies.
